Conservation of breeders' stock of bivoltine silkworm germplasm.
The mandate CSB, P4 Hassan is to maintain and multiply authorized bivoltine silkworm breeds.
Established in 1990, the farm focuses on systematic silkworm breed maintenance, from mulberry cultivation to silkworm rearing, and produces superior quality basic seeds for downstream multiplication centers in South India.
The farm is located 8 kms from Hassan, adjacent to NH48, and aims to evolve new and better silkworm breeds to enhance silk production quality.
This unit is carrying out the important activity of maintenance & multiplication of popular bivoltine breeds P4 Basic seeds and production of P3 Basic Seeds for supply to the downstream multiplication centers of southern India.
