Biological Control

Sericulture Technology Institute Incubation Centre (STIIC) for Biological control agents. Providing incubation and technical support facilities for innovation, technology transfer, and the mass production of natural enemies, including:
- Nesolynx thymus (parasitoid of silkworm uzi fly)
- Cryptolaemus montrouzieri (predator of pink mealybug)
- Chrysoperla zastrowi sillemi/Blaptostethus pallescens (Predator for thrips, mites, whiteflies, and mealy bugs, etc.)
- Trichogramma chilonis – Egg parasitoid for leaf webber
- Bracon brevicornis – Larval parasitoid for leaf webber
- Tetrastichus howardi – Pupal parasitoid for leaf webber
Production and supply of biological control agents for the management of important mulberry and silkworm pests.
Maintenance of nucleus cultures of parasitoids and predators for the management of major mulberry and silkworm pests.
