Conduct research in the fields of extension, economics, and social sciences related to sericulture.
Monitor and coordinate extension activities carried out by the Regional Sericultural Research Stations (RSRSs) and Research Extension Centres (RECs).
Develop and implement strategies to enhance technology transfer and adoption, with special emphasis on women sericulturists and other stakeholders.
Coordinate and implement various research trials, including On-Farm Trials (OFTs), On-Station Trials (OSTs), Multi-location Trials, and pre and post-authorization trials.
Organize and participate in Extension Communication Programmes (ECP), Field Training Programmes (FTP) to facilitate effective technology transfer.
Liaise with State Departments of Sericulture, NGOs, and other stakeholders to disseminate sericulture technologies.
Formulate, implement, and monitor Cluster Promotion Programme (CPP) aimed at promoting bivoltine sericulture in southern states.
Take up need based field studies to address field issues as situation demands.
Assess the adoption levels and field-level impact of sericulture technologies among stakeholders.
Facilitate visitor services and institutional outreach activities of the Institute in association with All India Radio and Social media platforms.
Publication of extension literature in the local languages to disseminate technologies to the stakeholders.
