Cluster Promotion Programme (CPP)

The Cluster Promotion Programme (CPP) of Central Silk Board is piloted by CSB-CSRTI Mysuru in collaboration with the Departments of Sericulture (DoS) in the southern states of India and in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra since 2012. Following the completion of the XII Plan period, the programme was extended and continues to be actively implemented in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. In the South Zone, a total of 26 Mega Clusters have been established, including 11 in Karnataka, 5 in Andhra Pradesh, 6 in Tamil Nadu, 2 in Telangana, and 2 in Maharashtra. Additionally, six clusters have been developed in non-captive areas of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The Director, Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSRTI), Mysuru, serves as the South Zone Coordinator. The Heads of the SEEM Division and the respective Regional Sericultural Research Stations (RSRS) function as Nodal Officers, ensuring effective implementation of the programme. The CPP has made steady progress in promoting bivoltine sericulture in the South Zone, leading to consistent improvements in cocoon production as well as productivity.
